Politics of exploitation

It is time the PPP starts behaving like a party in power at the centre with it firmly entrenched in Sindh, KP and Balochistan. This politics of exploiting the death of its workers and leaders will only be counter productive. It has yet to hold the people responsible for murder of over 180 of its party supporters in Karachi in 2007, on the day when Benazir arrived in Pakistan.

The tragic assassination of Benazir Bhutto has yet not made any headway. Similarly nobody has been held responsible for the ruthless murder of several scores of its party members who fell victim to target killings in Karachi, or several others killed in Rawalpindi. The latest is the murder of Governor Salmaan Taseer in Islamabad. The killer was caught red handed, but the party is again trying to gain political mileage, although it has no credibility. This party has been in power for almost three years and yet in spite of public outcry to catch Benazir Bhutto’s murderer, no concrete steps have been taken except for lip service. It is time to deliver on promises made by PPP to catch the murderers of BB, provide good governance and make efforts to restore its credibility by eradicating corruption within its ranks.
