KARACHI – Though the social networking website Facebook has removed Mumtaz Qadri’s pages, a number of communities are emerging with the name and more than 1,000 people have liked these community pages.
Qadri’s fan page reportedly attracted more than 2,000 fans in less than 24 hours that was later deleted by the Facebook administration but Qadri’s fans were creating communities and different pages on the site.
The communities like ‘Malik Mumtaz Hussain Qadri Should be Honored’ has 120 likes, ‘Mumtaz Qadri’ has 77 likes, ‘Ghazi Malik Mumtaz Hussain Qadri’ has 265 likes, and a website named ‘Mumtaz Qadri’ has 241 likes.
The number of likes and fans is increasing quickly and it may cross the mark of 10 thousand. Apart from likes, a campaign titled ‘Release Mumtaz Qadri’ is also launched on Facebook which too has many likes. It has been reported that a fan page for Mumtaz Qadri was immediately created by some unknown internet user in Pakistan just after the governor’s killing and at least 2,000 fans had joined this page that was a good number in a short span.
Amir Ata on Propakistani stated that there were reports that Facebook had deleted at least one dozen pages that were praising Malik Mumtaz Qadri who reportedly killed Salman Taseer. The pages for Mumtaz Qadri were still being created by the Facebook users in the country but there was a possibility that those too would be deleted by Facebook soon.
