MQM rejoining government in 3 days?

KARACHI – The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) might rejoin the federal government within three days.
After announcing that the decision to increase petrol prices has been reverted, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani arrived in Karachi and held a meeting with Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad at the Governor’s House where Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah was also present.
The prime minister is expected to meet MQM leaders at Nine Zero today (Friday) and invite the MQM to rejoin the central government.
Sources said that almost all issues between the PPP and the MQM have been settled. Insiders said that the PPP government has accepted the important demands of the MQM and agreed to give away thousand of acres land in Gadap and Keamari Town to the City District Government Karachi to build markets.
They said that the MQM has demanded a share of five departments transferred from the federal government to the province. The PPP has agreed to give a share from these ministries to the party and would give portfolio to those MQM ministers, who are working without one.
They said that an additional minister from the MQM would be included in the federal cabinet.
The PPP, however, has not accepted the MQM’s demand to merge community police with Sindh police and hand it over the provincial local government ministry.
The sources said that the prime minister’s visit, the MQM would call a meeting of its Rabita Committee to make a decision.
