LAHORE – Najam Sethi, the current host of Dunya TV’s popular programme ‘Tonight with Najam Sethi’ is expected to join Geo News today.
Speaking to Pakistan Today, Sethi confirmed that he was joining Geo News, but said that he did not know when his first programme would go on air. “Why would you want to join a bigger platform? Well, because you want to have more viewers, of course,” Sethi replied with a chuckle when asked to comment on the reason for leaving Dunya TV.
Sethi, an award-winning Pakistani journalist and media personality, is the editor-in-chief of The Friday Times, a Lahore based weekly newspaper. He was previously editor of Daily Times and Daily Aajkal newspapers. He is the only journalist in Asia to receive three international press freedom awards in a decade.
Meanwhile, in a game of musical chairs Mubashar Luqman, who hosts a talk show called “Point Blank” on Express News, is set to join Dunya TV replacing Sethi, while Dr Shahid Masood is said to be joining the Hashwani Multimedia’s Pearl Communications. Luqman, who once hosted Luqman Dot Com on Business Plus TV, will be hosting a new talk show on current affairs, the name and format of which is being finalized. It has been learnt that Luqman’s decision to quit Express News where he will remain till January 15 has come about because of a better package offered to him by Dunya TV.
