LAHORE – Former Foreign Minister and senior leader of PML-Q Likeminded group Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri while condemning the assassination of Governor Salman Taseer said nation must work above the sectarian divide to save the country from extremism.
Recording his reaction over the killing of slain Governor Punjab with Pakistan today here Wednesday, he said that the brutal killing of Punjab Governor was a question mark over the changing mindset of fanatics and if it was not be controlled immediately then it would spawn disastrous effects.
He said that uttering verbal commitments was the practice in our national politics that deteriorated the situation. He said that the nation must adopt the true spirit of Islam.
He said that we must also spawn ‘tolerance’ as without giving room to the criticism and facing opposition patiently, we could not correct ourselves.
He cited Quaid’s example that he always induce the opponents to listen to him and finally made them his allies. Kasuri said that it was the Quaid-e-Azam who unite the Muslims of sub-Continent above the sectarian divide.
The menace of terrorism and sectarianism has spread in the country just because of the absence of intolerance, he said. Kasuri added if the practice of dividing nation on the basis of religion and races will continue then the dream of Jinnah’s Pakistan can never come true.
