ISLAMABAD – A three-member Supreme Court bench on Wednesday directed the spy agencies to ensure the meeting of 11 inmates of Adiala Jail, now in their custody, with their families.
The bench of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday was hearing a case involving the mysterious disappearance of 11 inmates of Adiala Jail.
Raja Muhammad Irshad, lawyer for intelligence agencies, told the court that in pursuance of the court’s last order, three of the 11 prisoners were reunited for some time with their heirs. The court asked him to tell the names of these three inmates. He said one inmate Atiqur Rehman was reunited with his brother Dr Ahmad, however, he could not tell the names of two others. The court asked him as to why the remaining inmates were not allowed to meet their families. The lawyer said the arrangements could not be made so far.
