LSE stable, unruffled by assassination

LAHORE – The Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) remained range-bound and closed in red zone with a slight decline in the volume on Wednesday. The investors on the bourse unruffled off the assassination of Governor Punjab Salmaan Taseer. The LSE 25-shares lost 0.42 points to close at 3,746.99 against its opening at 3,747.41 levels. Out of 113 active scrips, 31 went up, 30 went down and 52 closed without any change in their opening values. The volume of the market remained 6.14 million shares, which was 1.66 million shares less than Tuesday’s turnover of 7.8 million shares.
Lotte Pakistan PTA was the volume leader with 1.57 million share turnover and it added Rs 0.17 to close at Rs 14.54 against its opening at Rs 14.37. National Bank of Pakistan was the second volume leader with 0.57 million shares turnover and it also added Rs 0.01 to close at Rs 76.58 against its opening at Rs 76.57.
Habib Bank was the major gainer and it added Rs 3.4 to close at Rs 125 against its opening at Rs 121.60. PSO was the major loser and it lost Rs 2.65 to close at Rs 294.35 against its opening at Rs 297.
