PPP will follow Bhutto’s path: Zardari

Islamabad – President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday said that Pakistan People’s Party would handle the challenges of the coalition government by holding dialogues and negotiations, as taught by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
“Martyred Zulfikar Ali Bhutto taught us how to resolve complex political issues through dialogue” he said in a message on Bhutto’s 83rd birth anniversary adding, “through dialogue we will also find a solution to the political challenges faced by the coalition government today”.
It was Bhutto’s dialogue skill that brought peace between India and Pakistan and recovered the territory lost in the 1971 war, brought back ninety thousand prisoners of war and prevented the war trials of our military officers, he said.
He said that Benazir Bhutto too prevailed upon a military dictator to shed uniform and thereby paved way for general elections by dialogs. “Inspired by our great leaders we also employed dialogue for ousting a military dictator from the presidency and for undoing his constitutional amendment and restored the 1973 Constitution in its original form”, he added.
He said that he urged his valiant party workers to rededicate themselves to the ideals of Bhutto and proclaim to the world that Bhutto still lives in the hearts and minds of the people and haunts the enemies of democracy.
He also paid tribute to those Pakistan People’s Party workers who suffered to keep Bhutto’s philosophy alive.
He said that the PPP would observe Bhutto’s this birth anniversary with simplicity in view of Punjab Governor Salman Taseer’s assassination and the party would observe fifteen day mourning.
