KARACHI – Maulana Muhammad Ali Johar was a great journalist and political leader and a fiery orator and his role during the Khilafat Movement has been documented in history with golden words, said Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Information Sharmila Farooqui on Tuesday.
“There are many things which the new generation can learn from Johar because he believed in democracy and struggled against undemocratic forces in the same manner in which the PPP has,” she said while speaking as the chief guest at an event organised by the Johar Foundation at the Karachi Press Club to observe the 80th death anniversary of Maulana Muhammad Ali Johar.
The adviser added that the verses of Johar are as popular today as they were in the past. She said that Johar was a great lover of pen, and through his weekly newspaper Hamdard and English newspaper Comrade, he created awareness among the Muslims of the subcontinent against the British. She added that the writings and the speeches of Johar produced great enthusiasm among Muslims and his voice for the freedom of Muslims was among the louder ones at that time.
