Traffic chokes as politicians keep on moving

LAHORE – Severe traffic jams were witnessed in the city throughout the day, as VVIPs including politicians kept on moving on roads for their vested interests.
Routs connecting key meeting points of politicians including the Zahoor Elahi Road, Gulberg and the Defense Housing Authority (DHA) faced traffic jams throughout the day irking motorists and pedestrians.
The Canal Bank Road, Ferozepur Road, Jail Road and Main Boulevard, Gulberg also remained choked. Talking to Pakistan Today, Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (r) Ahmed Mubeen rejected reports of traffic jams and said that traffic remained normal and “one or two small traffic jams are a routine matter”.
People criticised the traffic police for failing to control the situation, which disrupted their routine life. University student Nada Arshad said that she got late for her class for at least 45 minutes because of the traffic blockade.
She said that as she reached the Campus Underpass, wardens stopped the traffic. Arshad criticised activities of the rulers and said that university students were already facing budgetary cuts while rulers were busy for their survival.
