ISLAMABAD – Gross violation of recruitment procedures took place in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) where nurses from Punjab province were hired recently on posts allocated for Sindh and Balochistan as very few applicants from those provinces had applied on their quota leaving many posts vacant.
“Violation of recruitment procedures was witnessed in PIMS as for 90 posts of nursing staff, almost all of applicants hired are from Punjab province with many of them on fake domiciles of Sindh and Balochistan,” said an official at PIMS hospital.
He said some people within the administrative staff of PIMS arranged the fake domiciles for several candidates from Punjab province to make them eligible applicants from Sindh and Balochistan.
He said that there was specific quota for all the provinces but very few nurses from Sindh and Balochistan showed any interest to avail the posts at PIMS. On the other hand, the quota of Punjab got filled as soon as the posts were announced.
He said that even in some cases of illegal hiring, some staff members of PIMS hospital took Rs 50,000 from each nurse of Punjab as charges for providing fake domicile of Sindh and Balochistan.
Another official at PIMS when contacted confirmed the illegal hiring of nurses. He said that it was not the only case of violation of procedures followed in recruitment as same thing was happening in hiring of ward-boys and security guards as well.
