Bail petitions for accused in BB murder case filed in ATC

RAWALPINDI – Applications seeking release of the accused police officials in Benazir Bhutto (BB) murder case were filed in the Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi on Monday.
Malik Waheed Anjum, counsel of former CPO Saud Aziz and former SP Rawal Town Khurram Shahzad, filed the bail petitions in the court of Rana Nisar Ahmed Khan who directed the FIA to present the related record on January 7. It was pleaded in the applications that FIA, despite getting six-day physical remand of both police officials could not recover any thing from their possession.
The joint investigation team constituted by Punjab government after assassination of BB in bomb and gun attack at Liaquat Bagh also termed the security arrangements made by these police officials as foolproof, pleaded Malik Waheed Anjum adding that United Nations (UN) Commission in its investigation also said that the performance of his clients was satisfactory. According to defense counsel, FIA in its challan submitted before the court could not produce evidences against both police officials. Malik Waheed Anjum prayed the court to issue orders for release of his clients on bails. Rana Nisar Ahmed Khan, while accepting the applications for hearing, ordered FIA to present the case related record before the court on January 7.
