LAHORE – Police have failed to recover a government-owned Bolan carry van stolen on Friday. According to police sources, the vehicle was allocated to Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) employee Nadeem Ghauri and stolen from in front of his residence in Shadbagh.
Police officials revealed that the car was owned by former Lahore Capital City Police officer (CCPO) and PPSC Member Pervaiz Rathore’s staff member. Nadeem told police that he had parked the vehicle in front of his house on Thursday night and went to sleep but could not find the Bolan carry van in the morning, as some unidentified men had stolen it.
Police registered a case against unidentified men and have started investigation. According to police sources, the vehicle was stolen by terror suspects and it might be used in a terrorist attack. City Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Shahzad said, “The vehicle’s lifting is a routine matter but car lifters have stolen an important vehicle.”
He said that lifting cars has become a routine and thieves do not bother whether it is a private or a government-owned vehicle. He said that the vehicle might be used in a terrorist attack due to which he has directed police to find it at the earliest. Shahzad said that the vehicle’s chaises number has been distributed to police stations and law enforcement agencies would try to find it as early as possible.
Around two weeks ago, armed bandits had stolen two Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) trucks by taking the organisation’s staff hostage in a workshop located at Harbanspura. Police were able to recover the two trucks after some days.
