ISLAMABAD – Following MQM’s decision to quit the coalition government, the PML-N has said that it will adhere to a wait and see policy before making a final decision over the latest political development.
The PML-N, the second largest party in the House with 91 MPs, said it had not yet decided if it would support a no-confidence move against the prime minister. “No decision will be made in haste,” said MNA Ahsan Iqbal, a spokesman for the PML-N. He said the party leadership “is minutely monitoring the situation”.
“Consultations between the party’s top brass are underway and the party’s stance will be made public soon,” he said. Meanwhile, the PML-Q has demanded Prime Minister Gilani prove majority in the House, else it would not accept a minority government.
PML-Q Parliamentary Leader Faisal Saleh Hayat said the government had lost majority in the House. “The prime minister should prove his majority in NA session scheduled today (Monday),” Hayat said.
