LAHORE – Health Parliamentary Secretary Dr Saeed Elahi said though electricity generators have been provided to hospitals on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif but hospitals should be exempted from gas load shedding as Punjab can not produce gas.
In a press statement, he said that electricity and gas crisis has not only damaged the national economy but has affected thousands of patients under treatment in various hospitals. He said a discriminatory attitude was being shown to the Punjab with regard to gas load shedding which has destroyed the industrial sector, rendering many workers unemployed.
He said that it was the centre’s responsibility to control electricity and gas load shedding. He appealed to the federal government to exempt at least hospitals from gas load shedding to mitigate the patients’ sufferings.
