KARACHI – The expected changes in the Sindh Cabinet have been postponed, Pakistan Today learnt on Monday. The anticipated changes in the Home, Local Government and Education ministries were put on hold after the PPP’s announcement that it would not present the bill for restoring the commissionerate system in Sindh.
Three suggestions are currently being deliberated, sources told Pakistan Today. The first was to replace Provincial Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza by Nisar Khuhro and the Sindh Assembly speaker slot be given to the MQM.
The second proposal was that Agha Siraj Durrani might be appointed the new home minister and the local government ministry be given to the MQM while the third idea suggested was to make Pir Mazharul Haq the home minister and the MQM get the education ministry.
Insiders said that demands of changes in the provincial cabinet were not accepted but after the resignation of MQM’s two federal ministers, changes were expected to keep the MQM in coalition.
