Australian oil company hands over 49 homes to flood victims

ISLAMABAD – An Australian oil and gas company operating in Pakistan has handed over 49 houses, built at a cost of Rs 6.0 million, to the flood victims’ homeless families in Isakhel district of Mianwali, to mitigate their sufferings in the severe winters.
The houses have been constructed at one of the worst hit villages at Sharifabad in Isakhel, located along the Kunhar river and have been provided to the widows and the elderly on priority. The Combined Engineering and Integrated Solutions (CEIS), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Australian company Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation (SMEC) initially planned to construct around 25 shelters.
However with the efforts of project team, donations in the form of cash and kind, from colleagues, friends and support of locals; expanded the programme and completed 49 such units, Tassadaq Malik, CEO CEIS Pvt Ltd. “We would never forget what you have done for us and our families,” said Abdul Ghafoor, one of the recipients of the shelter houses.
The locals appreciated the CEIS team for setting up an example for others by “sticking to merit” and for utilizing the donations for building homes for the “real deserving”. Tassadaq Malik, said the enormity of the catastrophe by the flooding was unimaginable and it was really hard to choose the most deserving.
Priority was given to widows and elderly who did not have any care taker and list was made with the help of some trusted local personnel and one-to-one interaction with the affected people.
