ISLAMABAD – The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), for the week ended on December 30, for the lowest income group up to Rs.3,000, has registered an increase of 0.15 percent in comparison with the previous week.
The SPI, for the week under review in the above mentioned group, was recorded at 299.71 points as against 299.27 points registered in the previous week, according to figures revealed by Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS). The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2000-2001=100, covering 17 urban centers and 53 essential items, for all income groups and combined.
SPI, for the combined group, exhibited a decrease of 0.06 percent as it fell from 283.75 points in the previous week to 283.59 points in the week under review. SPI, for the combined group, witnessed an increase of 21.52 percent compared to the corresponding week of last year.
As compared to the last week, SPI for the income group ranging from Rs.3001-5000 increased by 0.04 percent while income groups ranging from Rs.5001-12000 and above Rs.12000 dwindled by 0.02 percent and 0.04 percent respectively.
Average prices of eight items decreased, while that of 20 items increased, with for the remaining 25 items’, prices stayed unchanged.
