Peace activists rally against terrorism

PESHAWAR – The peace activists from different walks of life staged peace rallies on Saturday in Peshawar and Mingawara Swat to denounce the trends of militancy and terrorism.
The peace rally was jointly organised by Aman Tehrik and Aman Ittehad in Peshawar whereas in Mingawara, the rally was held under the auspices of Global Peace and College of Youth Activitism. Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain attended the rally in Peshawar and expressed solidarity with the peace activists on behalf of the provincial government.
The members including women, academicians, journalists and members of different political groups assembled at Railway Park from where they proceeded towards Peshawar Sadar while Iftikhar was leading the procession along with Aman Tehrik’s Idrees Kamal and others. He appreciated the civil society members for arranging the rally and assured them of government’s support.
He said the government would continue its policies against terrorism and would chase the militants till last. He expressed satisfaction over the achievements made in previous year, saying, “Government succeeded in combating terrorism trends with the help of peace loving people across the country.”
At Mingawara Swat, people from different walks of life including girls and boys students from various schools assembled in front of Swat Press Club at Makan Bagh and proceeded in a procession. On reaching Nishat Chowk in Mingawara, the peace workers were addressed by Zian Ud Din Yousafzai, Haji Muhammad Zahid Khan, Sher Shah Khan and others.
The speakers expressed satisfaction over the returning of peace in violence-hit Swat valley and appreciated both the civilian leadership and security forces.
