2011’s first drone attack kills 15 in North Waziristan

PESHAWAR – In the first drone attack of 2011, three US missile hits at various places in North Waziristan Agency on Saturday killed 15 suspected militants and injured several others.
The US drone targeted militant vehicles and compounds in Speen Wam and Data Khel tehsils of the agency. Speen Wam is considered a crucial route connecting North Waziristan with Thall area of Hangu district, which is adjacent to Kurram and Orakzai agencies, while Data Khel is situated along the Pak Afghan border.
The US drone first fired four missiles at a vehicle and house, killing seven people. The second US drone attack occurred when a number of people were busy in rescue activities an after the first attack. Four people were killed in the attack.
The third attack targeted a vehicle at Deegan Mohammad Khel area of Data Khel, killing all four passengers. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained.
