P@SHA calls for HR development for IT industry

Pakistan Software House Association (P@SHA) President Jahan Ara has said that there is a dire need of human resource development for the growth of software and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry. Speaking at the Samsung Galaxy Tab launch meet-up at a local restaurant here on Friday, she said that there were ample opportunities for Pakistani IT professionals in the country and around the globe. She pointed out that a number of software companies in Pakistan were looking for mobile phone application developers, but there was a great shortage of skilled hands.
The launch meet-up was jointly organised by Mobilink, Samsung Pakistan and Google Pakistan. Jahan Ara said that software and technology giants like Google should invest in the human resource development in the country. She asked Google Pakistan Country Consultant Badar Khushnood to make
arrangements for setting up Google training centres at university levels in the country. She said that though, developers were making marvelous applications for Google mobile operating system, Android, but there is still a need for more skilled hands.
She said that all app stores there were number of utilities and games, but limited number of business applications. Pakistani developers should tap this opportunity, she commented. Jahan Ara underlined that Pakistani developers has huge talent and Pakistani software companies were on par with
international standards. She said though, it was a general perception that Pakistani software were not up to the mark, but it is interesting to note that Mindstrom, a Pakistani cricket game, had been chosen for world cup official games. She revealed that it had been developed by just 20 talented
developers of Lahore.
Samsung Galaxy Tab launch meet-up was attended by technology bloggers from all over Pakistan. A social networking competitions was organised, in which bloggers and technology folks showed there keen interest. The winner of the competition, Hamad Dar, a student of Bahria University, won a 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab.
Mobilink Manager Public Relations Rabia Siddiqui and Value Added Services Specialist Atif Shah said that the new Samsung Galaxy Tab was running on latest version of Google’s Android operating system and upgradeable to upcoming Andriod Ver 3.0. They said that the new tab was one of its kind in the market, which had unlimited options of connectivity and social networking. It was unlocked and user could use it with any mobile network. Shahrukh from Samsung Pakistan and Badar Khushnood from Google Pakistan also spoke on the occasion.
