Mehmood clinches leading scorer award

LAHORE – Multan-born international striker and Wapda’s spearhead Arif Mehmood, the only Pakistani to score a hat-trick in the SAFF Championship, clinched the Leading Scorer Award for the fifth time in the Pakistan Premier Football League.
Mehmood struck 21 goals in the 240-match League that finished on Thursday. The 240 matches produced 615 goals, Arif being the only player to score more than 20. Arif was also the leading goal-scorer in PPFL 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2009.
The 26 years old sharp-shooter is also one of the two player of PPFL 2010 to register two hat-tricks (the other being Asim Faiz). Relegated SSGC produced the second best scorer in the shape of lanky striker Asim Faiz, who managed 16 goals. Abdul Rehman (KESC) and Muhammad bin Younus (KPT) were third with 13 goals while Pakistan skipper Muhammad Essa (KESC) slammed 12 goals.
