First Winter thrills lahoris to bit

LAHORE – Winter’s first rain hit Lahore on Thursday blushing up roads, buildings and trees. Lahoris seemed jubilant, as the downpour reduced the temperature substantially. A proper rainfall was seen after three months in the city and people were seen enjoying the weather, as the rain splashed out dust and dryness from the air and trees.
Although dim light was observed since morning, the city remained covered with fog and people expressed their happiness on the change in weather. A chilly breeze encircled the metropolis after the rainfall. Senior physician Dr Ashfaq told Pakistan Today affects of the rain on human health and said that with elimination of pollution and dryness from the air, diseases such as flu, cough, fever and sore throat would be eradicated to an extent.
He said that the rain would restrict skin diseases and dengue fever would also end, as the temperature would fall considerably. He said that rain brings happiness psychologically.
“Last but not the least, people are seen smiling after the rainfall, as this is human psychology”, he said. Although mild showers had started on late Tuesday but consistent rainfall continued all day on Thursday.
The Met Office said that the rain would also continue in the same way today (Friday). Predicting the weather, the Met Office said that light would remain dim today and a cloudy sky would be witnessed while sunny weather might return on Saturday.
The Met Office said that maximum temperature on Thursday was 18.33 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature was recorded at 8.89 degrees Celsius. The Met office claimed that the temperature would vary between 19.44 degrees Celsius and 7.22 today but showers would also continue softly. As rainfall always influences our roads and traffic, this rainfall was no different. Roads remained block due to slow moving traffic on the Canal Bank Road and rain water was seen on roads and underpasses.
Motorcyclists were seen taking shelter underneath underpasses. “We don’t care if we are forced to stand here due to the rain but this downpour was needed”, said motorist Kausar Hameed.
