QUETTA – An Anti-terrorism Court could not decide the bail application of Shahzain Bugti, the provincial head of the Jamhoori Watan Party, on Wednesday due to the absence of the investigation officer.
Shahzain, the grandson of slain Baloch leader Akbar Khan Bugti, was arrested last week on charges of possessing illegal arms. Defense counsel WN Coli submitted a bail application in the ATC of Judge Muhammad Ismail Baloch and the court was to take a decision on the application after completion of the seven-day physical remand.
The prosecution informed the court that in the wake of pressing engagement, the investigation officer was unable to appear before the court. Subsequently, Shahzain could not be brought to the court. On the request of the prosecution, the court deferred the bail application until today (Thursday).
