ISLAMABAD – The spiralling bitterness between the PML-N and MQM turned fiery on Wednesday when the two sides indulged in highly personalised attacks at each other’s leadership, vowing to make their “private and family matters” public.
After the National Assembly session was adjourned on Wednesday, Opposition Leader Nisar Ali Khan addressed a press conference outside the parliament building, reprimanding MQM chief Altaf Hussain for “objectionable” remarks against PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and asked him to refrain from such statements in the future.
“When Altaf speaks, he is not in his senses … if he continues making such statements, we will make his former wife’s statement about their personal life public … we will also produce the certificate of a London rehabilitation centre and expose the disease Altaf Hussain is suffering from,” Nisar added.
Nisar also refuted President Asif Ali Zardari’s claim about a deal between the PPP and PML-N to rule the country turn-by-turn. Furious over Nisar’s comments, MQM MNAs replied in the same coin, using even harsher language against the Sharif family, with Haider Abbas Rizvi and Wasim Akhtar leading the verbal attack.
“I wonder why all these paper-tigers of Nawaz Sharif have run away from the scene with tails between their legs before we came here … I was expecting such meanness from the PML-N inside the House …but they opted to speak in front of TV cameras like jackals,” Rizvi said.
“PML-N leaders are hypocrites… they meet the army chief in the darkness of the night while they criticise the armed forces and dictators in the daylight … we also know the character of the wives and daughters of their leaders,” he claimed.
Wasim Akhtar, however, was angrier and called Nisar Mr Bean. “Remember, Chaudhry Nisar, you wear a wig to hide your bald head … if you don’t behave, people would beat you up in the streets of Lahore,” he remarked. “The people of Pakistan are suffering, while the PML-N leaders are busy getting hair transplants.
Have Nawaz and Shahbaz got hair transplants to attract girls? Politicians in exile write books, but these paper-tigers only got hair transplants… the nation knows that when Shahbaz was arrested, sex-enhancement tools and drugs were recovered from his room,” Akhtar added.
Meanwhile, a PML-N meeting chaired by Nawaz Sharif in Lahore decided to go ‘eye for an eye’ with MQM.
