PESHAWAR – Suspected militants on Wednesday attacked two Afghanistan-bound NATO containers killing a driver. Two cleaners were also injured in the ambush near Landi Kotal, official and local sources said. The NATO containers were stopped near Landi Kotal by armed men.
“As the vehicles stopped, they opened fire on the driver and his two helpers. The driver died on the spot while the two cleaners sustained bulled wounds”, a local transporter told this scribe on telephone from Landi Kotal.
The driver of the container following the first one tried to escape the attack but he lost control over the vehicle, which turned turtle. However, no causality was reported in the accident. The injured were taken to hospital in Peshawar where their condition was said to be stable.
An official in the Khyber Agency administration said the sabotage took place during wee hours of Wednesday. He said the militants have changed tactics and now they target drivers and cleaners to scare the transporters who run containers transporting goods to NATO forces, stationed in Afghanistan.
Taliban kill two calling them spies
PESHAWAR – Mutilated bodies of two people were found on Wednesday from the militants-controlled area of North Waziristan. The letters found on the bodies read “American Spies”. Security officials and locals said the bullet-riddled bodies were spotted in a stream at Tehsil Mirali of Miranshah. They said bodies were mutilated beyond identification.
Tribal sources said it could be a reaction of US drone hits that killed 40 suspected militants including four foreigners the last two days ago. Dozens of tribesmen have been targeted by the militants who accusing them of spying for Americans and Pakistani secret agencies.
The number of those killed as ‘spies’ has also gone up in the recent months following unprecedented spike in the drone attacks. Staff Report
