ISLAMABAD – Advocate Waheed Anjum, the counsel for former City Police Officer of Rawalpindi Saud Aziz, said on Wednesday that threats in case of the appearance of Benazir Bhutto from the escape hatch had been conveyed to the then security officers of the former prime minister, a private TV channel reported.
Addressing the press conference, Anjum said that Rehman Malik and Major Imtiaz Ahmed, the security officers of the late PPP chairperson, were informed of the threats by the police official. He pointed out that it was then Rehman Malik’s responsibility to stop Benazir from doing this.
If the protocol was followed the tragedy would have avoided, he said, and noted that no evidence was lost due to hosing down of the crime scene and questioned joint interrogation team to prove if any.
