LAHORE – Employees of Pakistan Railways (PR) on Wednesday protested against the failure of PR to pay their salaries in three consecutive months, inflation and the cutting of traveling allowance.
Dozens of workers from loco shops, power house and steel shop under the Railway Workers Union leadership staged a demonstration outside Divisional Superintendent (DS) workshops office, threatening to extend the protest if their demands were not taken seriously.
“The ministry is wasting money by importing new engines when we have told them that all we need is spare parts,” Union’s President Mustansar Javaid said while addressing the protestors, who dispersed peacefully after a railway officer assured them that they will get their salaries within two days.
