Don’t issue hostile statements against partners, Zardari to PPP ministers

KARACHI – President Asif Ali Zardari has said that lawmakers and ministers of the Pakistan People’s Party should refrain from issuing hostile statements against coalition partners, and expressed hope that misunderstandings between the partners would soon be resolved.
During his meeting with the ministers, advisers and the lawmakers at the Bilawal House, and later talking to Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, President Zardari said reservations expressed by the MQM were being addressed and the policy of reconciliation and taking on board all stakeholders would continue as before.
The president said that efforts must be made to remove misunderstandings and not let them linger to harm the hard earned political stability in any way. He said that the general elections would be held on time after two years and asked the party legislators to be ready to face the voters when the time comes on the basis of their performance while in office.
Zardari called for a questionnaire to be sent to all MPAs about what each legislator had done for the people of his or her constituency, the bottlenecks encountered and unfinished projects during the last three years. The meeting reviewed law and order situation, flood rehabilitation measures, drainage of flood waters and the status of various development projects.
