QUETTA – Jamhoori Watan Party’s Nawabzada Talal Akbar Bugti on Monday strongly criticised former president Pervez Musharraf’s polices for ‘abrogating’ constitution and starting military operations in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.
Speaking at a news conference here, Talal blasted Musharraf for his recent interview with a private TV channel and it dubbed it as ‘a pack of lies’. JWP leader said that Musharraf ‘deserved’ capital punishment for ‘heinous crimes’ including, ‘high treason’ by abrogating the constitution, over-throwing the elected government, detaining chief justice of Pakistan and other senior judges and arresting national hero Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan.
He said recovery of weapons from Shahzain Bugti’s caravan was a ‘drama’ staged by the ‘elements’ who wanted to push Balochistan into further chaos.
He said that JWP always condemned target-killings of non-Balochs and always stood for Balochs’ rights democratically. On a query, he said he had not met Shahzain Bugti so far and thanked Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Imran Khan and Altaf Hussain for condemning Shahzain Bugti’s arrest.
He said it was a conspiracy to send Pakistani army to Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for military offensives. JWP leader said Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti was pro Pakistan and he (Bugti) served the country in different capacities- as federal minister, governor and chief minister of Balochistan. He said there were ‘some elements’ who questioned his clan’s loyalty towards Pakistan.
About deployment of forces in Dera Bugti, he said that Sui gas was discovered in 1952 and till 2005 Bugti tribesmen protected the installations but now the government had to spend billions of rupees for security because of wrongdoings of Pervez Musharraf. He said he had respect for the constitution of the country and the army for its role to safeguarding the country’s frontiers.
