KRL show class with rare double over KESC

LAHORE – KESC lost to KRL 0-1 in 234th match of the Pakistan Premier Football League at the People’s Sports Complex, Karachi on Monday.
Both the teams completed 29 matches and KRL captured 57 points in comparison to KESC’s 52. KRL also defeated KESC 3-0 in the first leg at Rawalpindi in October 2010.
The precious goal for KRL was scored by Chaman-born front runner Kalim Ullah in the 21st minute. This was his fourth goal of the event. Kalim is showing fine display for KRL and he also struck two goals in AFC President’s Cup early this year. Despite scoring 37 goals in the League, KRL is on the way to winning silver medals.
Their leading scorer in the event is Muhammad Qasim (11) followed by Ziaus Salam 4, Kalimullah 4, Syed Ghazi 3, Mehmood Khan 3, M Shahid 2, Mudassar Saeed 2, Abid Ghafoor 2, Jalil 1, Luqman 1, Samar Ishaq 1, Shahid Ahmed 1, Muhammad Adil 1, Yasir Afridi 1.
HBL beat Navy 3-0 at KPT – Benazir Sports Complex, West Wharf Road, Kharadar, Karachi. Navy finished their quota of 30 matches, gaining 42 points with 11 wins and nine draws, goal counts 35-42. On the other hand, HBL went clear of relegation zone, securing 25 points in all their 30 matches. SSGC have 20 points, PMC 18 and Young Blood 18 to fight out for drifting away from last two places.
PIA took another step to second place in the League when beat WAPDA 1-0 at Peoples Sports Complex Karachi.
The all important goal was netted by PIA’s spearhead Shakir Lashari in the 65th minute that was registered as 600th goal of PPFL. With the win PIA, having 56 points in 29 matches, put pressure on KRL (29 match, 57 points), Army (29, 53) and KESC (29, 52) It was Shakir Lashari’s 10th goal of PIA’s total 49. Their other scorers in League are Nazeer Ahmed 8, Nasr Ullah Khan 7, Hasnain Abbas 5, Muhammad Ishtiaq 5, Zeeshan Ali 5, Saddam Hussain 3, Wasim Ullah 1, Abdul Ghaffar 1, Ali Ehsan 1 plus three from walk over.
