PESHAWAR – Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Fazlur Rehman has said that his party’s alliance with the PPP-led government is now history and his party will focus on ‘serving the interests’ of the country and the masses.
This he said while speaking at a gathering of his party workers and leaders here on Sunday. Fazl warned against ‘any US-led ground operations in North Waziristan’. He said US attempts to land its troops in Pakistan could further destabilise the tribal areas.
“Although the US intends to leave Afghanistan but they want to remain in the region. Even after ten years since the US invaded Afghanistan, they have failed to achieve their targets,” he added
He said PPP was responsible JUI-F’s decision to leave the coalition government because PM Yousaf Raza Gilani failed to take the party into confidence before sacking Azam Swati. Fazl also warned government against any amendments in the blasphemy laws.
