ISLAMABAD: A district court on Friday sent Abdullah Khokhar, brother-in-law of sacked minister for religious affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi, to jail on a judicial remand. Khokhar is accused of illegally receiving million of rupees from intending Haj pilgrims.
He was produced in the court of a senior civil judge who allowed a 14-day judicial remand. During the hearing, FIA presented evidence of bank accounts, claiming that the accused got money transferred online from pilgrims and travel agents. However, Khokhar told the court that the said money had no connection with the allegations, rather the transfers concerned his business. FIA arrested Khokhar on Sunday on charges of receiving Rs 200,000 each from hundreds of intending pilgrims.
