Hospitals get hepatitis vaccine

LAHORE –
Interferon injections and medicines for hepatitis C treatment were provided to government hospitals last week according to their treatment load, Punjab Health Secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad said on Thursday.
He said that since treatment of hepatitis C was very expensive and time-consuming, hospital administrations have been directed to ensure completion of a six-month treatment course of patients who were already under treatment.
Fawad said that approval has been given for purchasing injections and medicines for another 10,000 hepatitis C patients and the procurement process would be completed within a month after which treatment of the patients would start.
LTC chairman leaves for Turkey
LAHORE – Lahore Transport Company (LTC) Chairman left for a week’s visit to Turkey with regard to transport issues. Khwaja Ahmed Hassan is to hold a meeting with experts and management of transport companies operating in Turkey to explore various avenues of foreign investment in the urban transport sector.
Hassan is expected to give a briefing on the Bus Rapid Transit System to attract investment for this project. Hassan is also heading the Solid Waste Management Company and is expected to participate in the signing of the agreement ceremony to be held between Turkey and Pakistan in the domain of Solid Waste Management System. Ex-customs constable sent on remand
LAHORE – An accountability court on Thursday handed over Customs Department ex-constable Ghulam Nabi to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on physical remand till January 6. Ghulam Nabi has been arrested on the charges of acquiring assets beyond known source of income.
The accused, despite of his humble background, acquired assets including one kanal house in DHA, three houses in different localities of Lahore, Honda City car and handsome accounts in five banks. The accused could not justify Rs 3,002,271 earned during service. Staff Report
