KARACHI – While most of the airlines in Europe are fighting the snowy weather, the Pakistan International Airlines is facing delays because of foggy conditions.
The flights scheduled to Bhawalpur, Raheem Yar Khan, Faislabad, Sialkot, and Multan on Thursday were delayed and they could not reach their destinations till Thursday night. Recently, PIA’s two Boeing-777 and one jumbo passenger planes have reached London.
The PIA spokesperson informed the flights stuck at the European stations in France, Germany, and Istanbul due to snowfall are operating as normal. PIA flight, PK-734 destined to Milan and Paris from Lahore had reportedly been delayed for more than 20 hours on Wednesday and most of the European airports are bracing for more snowfalls in the days to come.
The situation at the London airports this week were worse because of offloading cargo at the terminal by the many airlines, but the PIA managed the situation as it had its cargo within the containers. “The only problem the PIA had to face was its diversion to Cologne where according to the law passengers could not be offloaded until the staff of the flight was there”, he added.
He said though the PIA felt relieved for the time being, the congestion at the European airports would make it difficult for the destined flights to resume their operations fully, as they had to take time for the adjustment.
