LAHORE – A large number of activists from the rebel group of the PPP on Thursday took out a rally against the failure of Zardari’s government in solving the case of Benazir Bhutto’s assassination.
Activists, led by Sardar Hur Bokhari, Dr Zahid Akram and Nisar Safdar at the Regal Chowk, staged a sit-in before the Punjab Assembly. Holding banners, placards and party flags, the PPP workers condemned the way present government was treating the case and chanted slogans against the incumbent leadership of the party and its attitude towards the committed workers of the party.
They demanded fair probe and prosecution of those directly or indirectly involved in the case. Addressing the rally, Sardar Hur Bokhari said that Benazir Bhutto’s death couldn’t be compensated. He said the committed jialas of PPP could never compromise over this issue and wanted a solution, which hadn’t been provided even after three years.
Bokhari said it was a matter of concern that that despite being in power, the party leadership had been unable to solve this matter. Dr Zahid Akram Natt, another party member from Lahore, regretted the fact that the issue was nor given due importance and rather than exposing the real culprits behind the assassination, government was cornering the party workers.
Nisar Safdar, another party member, also addressed the gathering which ended peacefully after over an hour.
