PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPCCI) and USAID have drafted a vision document for developing a well diversified industrial and manufacturing base in KP. This base would not only be export oriented but it would also help domestic consumers and create employment opportunities.
The vision document was prepared after a detailed discussion among officials of USAID, provincial government and business community of the province at KPCCI on Wednesday.
Industrial Working Group Chairman Nauman Wazir presided the session while KPCCI President Usman Bilour, provincial secretary industry and leading industrialists were present on the occasion.
During the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on potential areas of industrialisation in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and measures to overcome hindrances in promotion of commercial activities in the province.
Three working groups were also formed in the session which held detailed discussions on relevant subjects and prepared suggestions for incorporating into the vision. Inputs were also sought from industrialists in their specialised subjects and proposals were noted for necessary action.
Briefing the participants, Chairman of the Industrial Working Group grieved that the province had undergone plenty of sufferings. He said that forming a comprehensive and well diversified industrial and production base was imperative for provincial prosperity.
Speaking on the occasion, KPCCI President Usman Bilour stressed adoption of measures which would expedite the pace of industrial development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. He stressed on tapping the hydroelectric potential of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to overcome energy crisis in the country.
