FIA asked to transfer Tawana case to NAB

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to investigate embezzlement of millions of rupees in Tawana Pakistan Project (TPP), apprehending that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) may hush up the case. A source told Pakistan Today that the NAB had asked the FIA through the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the National Assembly to transfer the case to it. “The FIA has already completed its investigation into this case,” he added.
The source further said Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of FIA had completed investigation of Tawana Pakistan scam and was planning to submit it in the Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court on Friday (tomorrow).
The official said under the project Rs 310 million were paid in advance to WETA Pakistan for supply of milk, juices and biscuits to girl primary schools. The project was aimed at providing food items for the schools located in very poor areas, including Laki Marwat, DG Khan, Pak Patang, Badin, Gawader and Turbat, he told Pakistan Today.
