Better relations with police

Sometimes people complain about the rude attitude of police towards them and its common to hear a policeman saying I am not on duty. According to the Police Act of 1861 or the Police Order 2002, a police officer is always considered to be on duty. That certainly doesnt mean that he is not allowed to rest but in or out of uniform, they are supposed to uphold the law. Police is the primary law enforcement agency of the state and has the responsibility to help people in times of need. Unfortunately, the citizen-police relationship has never been so encouraging in our country, but a number of civil society organisations are working in this regard to clear the doubts and improve the situation. Thus, it is hoped that in the coming years we can witness better understanding between the law enforcers and the public.
