COAS visits Swat, opens work on bridge

RAWALPINDI: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani visited Swat on Tuesday, said a press release issued here. It said he attended the earth-breaking ceremony of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Bridge near Barikot.
The bridge is being constructed by Frontier Works Organisation with UAE funding as part of the Quick Impact Projects. A United Arab Emirates (UAE) delegation led by His Excellency Ali Saif Sultan Al Awani, Ambassador of UAE was also present on the occasion. COAS thanked the brotherly country for its support to the people of Pakistan. The COAS later visited De-radicalisation and Emancipation Programme (DREP) Facility being run under the auspices of Pakistan Army.
The facility is helping in rehabilitation of affected youth. COAS also interacted with locals and reiterated that Army will continue to contribute meaningfully towards the development and rehabilitation of Swat. Earlier on arrival, COAS was received by the Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Asif Yasin Malik. Pakistani student honoured LAHORE PRESS RELESE Saad Asad a student of O-Level.1 got the 2nd Position worldwide in International Environment Project Olympiads (INEPO) Turkey 2010 among 45 countries of the world. He was awarded the Silver Medal.
