I am glad to know that a new English-language daily, Pakistan Today, is being launched in Karachi. Equally pleasing is the news that renowned journalist Mr Arif Nizami, with his experienced team, has entered a new era of print media.
A need for another progressive English newspaper was dearly being felt. The importance of media has increased in modern times, where the flow of information is crucial in building societies. Our country needs media that can play a constructive role in bringing about reform in the society. Pakistan needs a media which supports democracy and democratic forces, because democracy is the only way of keeping the country on a path of development and ensuring the well being of the underprivileged.
The impeccable journalistic record of Mr Arif Nizami and his team gives us hope that Pakistan Today will be a progressive newspaper. We hope that our country and province of Sindh will see a new phase of positive journalism, one which will remain true and loyal to the people of this country.
