PESHAWAR: The security forces have seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition including 89 missiles during a successful raid in Khyber Agency, and also arrested four militants in the process.
Colonel Sadiq of the Frontier Corps (FC) told journalists at the FC Fort Shahkus on Sunday that 89 missiles, 31 40-MM rocket launchers and light-machine guns were seized by the security forces during a raid carried out in the Akakhel area.
The Russian-origin arms were brought to the agency from the Tirah valley and would have been smuggled into Peshawar and other districts had it not been for the forces’ successful operation. Four militants were also arrested from the scene and further investigations were underway. The action was taken after receiving a tip-off, Sadiq added. He went on to state that the law and order situation in the area was under complete control and the security forces would not rest until the elimination of every last terrorist from the area.
