Five houses robbed, citizens block roads

GUJRANWALA – Robbers took away valuables from five houses in the city in early hours on Sunday while hundreds of citizens blocked the bypass road for two hours, suspending the flow of traffic between Lahore and Islamabad.
Reportedly, six armed and masked robbers forced ann entry into the house of Muhammad Munir and took away 10 tolas of gold ornaments and other valuables. The robbers barged into his neighbourer’s house and looted cash and other valuables at gunpoint.
They forced Bashir and his family to take oath on the holy Quran that no valuable had been left in the house. Similarly, the robbers intruded three neighbouring houses and took away valuables from there.
The residents of this northern outskirt of the city gathered early in the morning and blocked traffic on the bypass road after setting tyres on fire. A large number of police contingents reached the spot and restored traffic after two hours by assuring the protesters of arresting the robbers soon.
Lt-Gen Raheel Sharif witnesses exercises: Gujranwala Corps Commander Lt-Gen Raheel Sharif on Sunday witnessed the military exercises in the field area near Sialkot.
According to an ISPR handout, the corps commander witnessed the conduct of the exercises. He interacted with the troops participating in the exercises and commended their commitment and dedication towards their profession. He also appreciated the training standards and the combat efficiency achieved during the ongoing field training.
Earlier, on his arrival in the exercise area, the general officer commanding briefed the corps commander on the setting and modalities of the exercise.
