Committee on judges’ appointments challenged in SHC

KARACHI – The Sindh High Court (SHC) was moved on Saturday against the formation of the parliamentary committee on judges’ appointments, with the petitioner, Sohail Hameed Advocate, pleading with the court to term the committee as unconstitutional.
Quoting Article 175-A of the Constitution, the plaintiff submitted that a parliamentary committee must consist of at least 8 members,4 recommended by the prime minister and 4 by the opposition.
The aforementioned Article was neglected, the petitioner pleaded, dubbing the committee as unconstitutional.
