Broadway’s troubled Spider-Man musical is facing yet another delay as producers scramble to re-write the script and add new music ahead of the 2011 opening, according to a US report.
‘Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark’ was initially scheduled to begin previews nearly a year ago in January 2010, but the launch has been pushed back numerous times as theatre bosses battled to get the curtain up amid rising costs and rigorous safety checks for the show’s aerial stunts.
Preview performances began in late November but a number of onset accidents and a further round of inspections by safety officials saw the opening delayed until 11 January. Sources reveal that the official start date has now been postponed another month to allow producers to make a series of changes to the music, dialogue and choreography.
U2 rockers Bono and The Edge, who composed the score for the production, will reportedly go back to work on the show this month in a bid to re-work the closing sequence. The new start date is said to be in February.
