FAISALABAD – Assistant Sub-Inspector Taj Muhammand was among the victims of a highway robbery by a gang of dacoits. The gang, who had waylaid a check post barrier, was busy in looting the passersby at Mohalla Kot Eidi, Cinema Road, Gojra when ASI Taj Mohammad on his motorcycle was also stopped by the gang.
The ASI, who is working as a PA to Toba Tek Singh District Police Officer (DPO), was going home after his duty. When he tried to resist the gang, they attacked him and severely beat him up and left bleeding after the torture. The other victims to the robbery included Adeel, a motorcycle-rikshaw driver and passengers Shahbaz and Usman.
The three men were deprived of Rs 23,000. Gojra police has not registered the name of ASI Taj Mahammad among the robbery victims to avoid embarrassment.
WOMAN GANG RAPED IN HOUSE: A poor house-wife, who was alone in the house after her husband left for work, was assaulted by two men who raped her at gun point. According to details, Rani Bibi, a resident of Chak No 189 RB a village near Chak Jhumra, reported the police that two men from the same area named Shahzad and Riaz alias Billu intruded into her house whilst she was alone. They overpowered her at gun point and raped her one by one and escaped.
MAN KILLS SISTER: In a worst case of ‘Honour Killing’, an 18-year-old girl was shot dead by her brother over mere suspicions of having a love affair with a man. According to details, Faryad Anjum, a resident of Chak No 1 JB, was tipped off by the village residents that his sister Ulfat Anwar was having a love affair with a man of the same village.
He was furious that his sister had blemished their family honour by an act of moral laxity. He shot several bullets at his sister and killed her instantly. Nishatabad SHO Mansoor Hameed took the dead body to Allied Hospital for postmortem and registered a murder case against the accused Faryad Anjum who has absconded from the scene.
HOUSE-WIFE COMMITS SUICIDE: A house-wife took her own life after a domestic dispute with her husband. According to details, the husband of the deceased woman Munir, a resident of Officer Colony, reported that his wife named only as ‘M’ took pesticides used for storing the wheat grains and died. The couple had a troubled married history interspersed with frequent quarrels. Her body was handed over to the husband after formal police proceedings. The parents of the dead woman were not available for comments.
LAWYER’S HOUSE RAIDED BY GANGSTERS: Two dacoits intruded into the house of a lawyer and robbed 10 tolas of gold from the ladies in the house. According to details, two armed men entered the house of Shaikh Arshad Ahmed advocate at Circular Road Samundary. They forced the women to hand over their jewelry to them and escaped with the jewelry.
City Police Samundary has failed to stop the increasing number of robberies in the area. The residents of the area have protested at the vulnerable law and order situation in the area and demanded the authorities to save them from ‘dacoit rule’.
DETAINED CHILD-SERVANT FREED BY EMPLOYER: A teenage housemaid detained by her employer in his house in Lahore under false charges of theft was freed after the victim’s family reported the story to a private TV channel. According to details, Mohammad Ilyas and his wife Parveen Akhtar, the parents of 14-year-old Shameem, residents of Chak No 139 RB near Chak Jhumra confirmed the return of their daughter back home after the ordeal.
The uncle of the teenager named Shahbaz told the Sahianwala Police that he has been working as a driver in a Lahore-based private firm for two and half years. During this period his niece Shameem then eleven and half year old was put under the employment as house maid in the house of Anti Narcotics Assistant Sub-Inspector Sajeel Hyder Shah.
The uncle says that they decided to withdraw the girl from the job after she turned 14 but the employer Sajeel Shah came to their village and took the girl with him by force to resume her work. When the complainant Shahbaz went to Lahore to take back the girl again, Sajeel Shah detained him in a room and told him that Shameem has stolen their jewelry from their house and she has admitted that she has given the jewelry to her uncle Shahbaz.
