LDA’s One-Window Cell collects Rs 233m

LAHORE: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) One-Window Cell has earned Rs 233 million by disposing off 10,228 out of 11,742 applications with a disposal rate of 87.11 percent during three months since its inception on September 7 this year.
Launched at a cost of Rs 25.5 million at LDA’s office in Johar Town, the One-Window Cell has facilitated expeditious disposal of public matter besides eliminating involvement of irrelevant elements in the authority’s affairs. Spreading over an area of 4,500 square feet, this state-of-the-art One Window Cell is fully computerised and is the only example of its kind in the public sector in the entire country.
The air conditioned facility has sitting arrangements for more than 100 people. Separate counters have been set up for imparting information to the visitors, receiving and scrutinising their applications and handing them chalaan forms, transfer letters, approved building plans or other documents after their applications have been disposed off. LDA has also published leaflets, describing procedures for various works and the time to be taken for this purpose, for distributing among the applicants for their information.
LDA sanctioned as many as 809 building plans on 1,032 applications, extended the construction period for 601 plots on 656 requests and issued completion certificates on 124 out of 131 pleas received for this purpose. A total of 105 exemption letters, 241 No-Objection Certificate chalaans, 64 permissions to mortgage, 212 possessions of plots, 154 possession orders, 19 sub-division orders, 890 transfer letters of plots and 70 urgent transfer letters had been issued by the One-Window Cell during this period.
As a result of its corporate style of functioning, the LDA cell has been helpful in drawing more applications by the people, which in turn have also led to increased revenue generation by the authority under diverse heads. LDA Director General Omer Rasul personally supervises the working of the One-Window Cell and is in office at 8am sharp daily for this purpose.
