CJ wants LHC officers, lower staff to be punctual

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry has warned officers and lower staffers of the court of strict action if they violated punctuality. Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry Wednesday undertook surprise visit to the offices of the court to check the overall performance of the staff.
During the visit the CJ said lethargic, unpunctual and irregular officers/officials have no room in the establishment of the LHC. He said punctuality in the judiciary is the corner stone of the institution and no countenance would be given to the violators or its non-observance in the office. The CJ warned that supervisory officers would be held responsible for late coming or disrespect to punctuality by their subordinate staff in future.
Justice Chaudhry also issued on the spot show cause notice to dozens of the officers who were not found present in their seat during the court times. He also ordered the concerned section to improve cleanliness in the court premises. Meanwhile, Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry has said special measures would be pursued to decide the tax matters before the courts. He viewed that this would go to add to the revenues of the government. The CJ has also ensured the lawyers of addressing their genuine problems and grievances.
While talking to office bearers of the Lahore Tax Bar, Gujranwala, Khanewal, Mian Chunnu and Jehlum Bars Association, the CJ said he will ensure availability of the certified copy of the decision within three days when the case is pending before the court. He asked the lawyers to bring to the knowledge of the Registrar LHC, if the relevant person took undue time in issuing the copy or demanded bribe. Corrupt and inefficient persons would not be tolerated, he maintained.
