4th KC Teacher Workshop ends

LAHORE: Fourth Teachers Training Workshop, hosted by Kinnaird College in collaboration with Environmental Protection Department (EDP), was held from November 15 to December 15.
Initiated in June 2008 with funds provided by EDP, the programme aims to create environmental awareness amongst the youth and is designed to develop awareness, competence and teamwork in the teachers to impart environmental awareness in their students.
The first workshop was carried out with the government school teachers while the 2nd and 3rd workshops involved the teachers of low income private schools. The present workshop (fourth) is again being carried out for the Government School teachers. The chief guest was Principal KC Dr Rukhsana David, while Dr Nikhat Khan is Project Convener KC. The first three workshops were highly successful.
The trainees in their evaluation commended the faculty who taught them and were keen to participate again in an advanced course. Khan told Pakistan Today that the trainees will be able to develop an understanding of a range of basic environmental issues facing the world, adding that the program will be help in explaining the relationships between resource use/overuse and environmental degradation.
She said the aim was is to promote an aesthetic appreciation for environment, foster environmental awareness and develop an informed concern and sense of responsibility for the environment.
