LAHORE: A petition was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday challenging formation of various task forces and appointment of coordinators by the Punjab government. Green Town resident Maqsood Abbas filed the petition arguing that the task forces and coordinators were a burden on the provincial exchequer, as large number of vehicles and other facilities including free petrol, telephones, travelling allowances, offices and staff have been provided to them.
He said that task forces and coordinators were appointed without any legal jurisdiction and politicians awarded their party workers in this regard. Abbas said that all task force members and coordinators were blackmailing various government departments by showing their authority despite the fact that they all were illiterate and inexperienced.
The petitioner requested the court to order the Punjab government to abolish all task forces and dismiss all coordinators, as they had no legal authority and withdraw all facilities being provided to them.
